The Novo-Kirpichny Bridge spans the Volkovka River at its mouth, along the left bank of the Obvodny Canal.  It is a 37.4-meter-long and 30.7-meter-wide single-span reinforced concrete bridge.

History

A bridge was first built on this site to the design of engineer Pierre-Dominique Bazaine in 1832–1833. It was a three-span wooden bridge with abutments lined with bricks, hence the first name of the bridge, Kirpichny — Brick Bridge.

In 1908, the wooden bridge was dismantled in connection with the construction of a railway bridge across the Obvodny Canal and the mouth of the Volkovka River was diverted downstream of the Obvodny Canal.  A new wooden bridge was built the same year, which was named “Novo-Kirpichny”.

A three-span reinforced concrete arch bridge built in its place in 1926 was repaired many times before it was declared dilapidated and closed in 2009.

The current Novo-Kirpichny Bridge was built to the design of Inzhtekhnologiya Institute in 2011–2012. The inauguration took place on December 25, 2012.
